CHEERLEADING

Description: Students explore their interests in plants, while developing growing techniques and produce items for sale to generate funds for activities and charity
Special Events: Produce plants for interest, gifts, and fundraisers; proceeds fund trips to Longwood Gardens and are donated to community service charities

GREYHOUND HEARTS QUILT CLUB

Grades open to: All
Membership: All students who want to learn to sew and design quilts
Description: Learn to sew by hand and machine; cut pattern pieces and sew into blocks and then quilt design and finish binding
Special Events: The club makes quilts for ill children at CHOP and St. Christopher’s Hospital; occasionally donate quilts to shelters

GSA (Gay-Straight Alliance)

Description: The Gay-Straight Alliance strives to provide a safe and friendly atmosphere in which students may meet, socialize, and support one another. Our alliance promotes tolerance, understanding, and acceptance. We desire to end the discrimination, bullying, and prejudice associated with gender and sexual orientation.
Special Events: Matthew Shepard commemoration in Octoter, LGBT History month celebrations throughout October, recognition of World AIDS Day in December, National No Name-Calling Week in January, Day of Silence in April.

Meetings: Mondays & Wednesdays (November—April) L.I.F.E (Lifetime Information For Everyone) L.I.F.E. is part of the NJ Teen Prevention Education Program (Teen PEP). The course is designed to develop the knowledge and skills needed to conduct prevention outreach workshops and character education activities. This course takes the place of Senior Health & Physical Education. Students must apply for and go through an application process before being accepted into the program. As a peer educator, the student will be part of a network of young people around the state taking an active role in educating peers about sexual health and the consequences of risky sexual behavior. NATIONAL ART HONOR SOCIETY

Membership: Pre-requisite includes completion of an art course and being at the top of the art class. Students should be willing to participate in all chapter activities; each art teacher nominates inductees who satisfy the criteria
Description: Advocacy for the visual arts; students also plan and carry out service projects

NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY

Membership: A minimum of a 91.0% GPA and recommendations from teachers and counselors; students are voted into NHS
Description: Service, scholarship, and leadership activities
Special Events: Blood Drive, Fall play, community service projects, academic scholarships, and tutoring/mentoring program for students
Meetings: 1st Wednesday of the month; others as needed PHOTOGRAPHY All students in grades 9-12 are welcome to participate in the Photography Club. Students who have other extracurricular commitments such as Marching Band or sports may join the club when they are free. Students do need to have a camera and film (even a 35mm disposable camera will do). This club is designed to meet the interests and ability levels of the members. Technical skills will be developed. The students will participate in photo shoots during club meetings and on their own time with the objective of capturing photos to submit for exhibitions. Description: Bowling practices and competitions; Special Olympics NJ competitions

S.T.O.P. (Students Together Opposing Prejudice)
